This video shows you the unboxing activities of an Aruba 6100 switch (what's in the box), the physical installation (connecting the switch to the network and get console access), configuring the switch for remote access (SSH, HTTPS and REST), and actually testing access. Notice that I am using a DAC cable to connect up the switch. At the moment of release, the 6100 does not support DAC cables and in the video you will see how to get around this.
VLANs are a fundamental part of networking but their misconfiguration is one of the most common reasons for network outages*. In this video we take a close look at the intricacies of VLAN configuration using Aruba AOS-CX. 8320 config guide here: 🤍 N.B. The diagram shows the addressing as .1 & .2 but I ping .101 to .102. I had to change the addressing mid-video because those addresses were already taken on my home lab 🙄🤦♂️....Networking! I hope that doesn't confuse anyone. The principle is the same, ping from one IP address to another across the link connecting the 8320s. Twitter: 🤍 *I used to work Ops and VLAN config error was high on the list of causes of outage. #aruba
Deep-dive into the theory of VRFs, how the AOS-CX architecture utilizes VRFs and a configuration demo of VRFs on an Aruba AOS-CX 8320. Time Stamp: 06:08 - Demo explanation 07:20 - AOS-CX configuration example Twitter: 🤍 #aruba

Continuing the Aruba AOS-CX basics series, I now turn to Layer 3 port configuration and demo the two available approaches, both Layer 3 dedicated and 'interface vlan'. While this may seem rather simplistic, there are major design implications when choosing one approach over another. Watch the vid to find out more! Twitter: 🤍 #aruba

Now we have 802.1X network authentication working for wireless, we will configure the same for the Wired network and re-use most of the work we did for WLAN authentication already. On my AOS-CX switch, 10.7 is deployed, it is just L2 and has 1/1/1 as uplink: VLAN10 (Management) VLAN11 (Corporate) VLAN12 (Voice) VLAN13 (Guest) VLAN14 (Untrusted) Port 1/1/3 is connected to my wired Windows 10 client. This video shows two advanced scenarios: Windows client behind an IP Phone, and Instant AP with tagged VLANs on an authenticated port. For the device-behind-phone, both devices are authenticated. The phone with MAC authentication, resulting in a voip role in the voice vlan. The client does 802.1X wired and ends up in a contractor role and in the guest VLAN. We just need to increase the maximum number of clients per port: interface 1/1/2-1/1/24 aaa authentication port-access client-limit 3 For the Instant AP, it will create a new role, and instead of a single access VLAN, we now configure a trunk native and multiple tagged VLANs. For this, because the IAP already authenticated the devices, we need to dynamically switch to port mode to avoid all clients being authenticated as well on the switch: port-access role contractor vlan access name Guest VLAN port-access role voip associate policy pol-voip vlan access name Voice VLAN port-access role instant-ap vlan trunk native name Management VLAN vlan trunk allowed name Corporate VLAN vlan trunk allowed name Voice VLAN vlan trunk allowed name Guest VLAN vlan trunk allowed name Untrusted VLAN auth-mode device-mode Workshop video overview, schedule, and discussion can be found on the Airheads Community: 🤍 ⏰Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 00:27 Add port number to Access Tracker view 01:12 Increase client-limit on switch ports 01:55 Connect Windows 10 client behind IP Phone 03:19 AP with tagged VLANs on authenticated port 03:55 Role for instant-ap with VLANs on switch 05:20 Changes to ClearPass for InstantAP authentication 06:50 Connect InstantAP and show result
